TAIL BOOM FAIRINGS
Enhance performance and appearance in your Skymaster with our Tail Boom Fairing mods
Tail Boom Fairings (TBF’s) attach to the boom and the vertical fin - both on the top and below the boom - for enhanced STOL, in-flight performance, and overall appearance of your Cessna Skymaster.
Tail boom fairings come in two sizes:
The Medium Size TBFs are about the same size as the Robertson STOL TBFs
The Large Size almost totally web in the boom with the Vertical Fin. Each one is about 4 feet long.
Performance Enhancements RESULTS with Large TBF’s:
1. ~50+ feet per minute increase rate of climb with the rear engine only (No significant change with front engine only)
2. ~ 1 mph increase in cruise speed at 10,000 feet
3. Increase in crosswind stability due to the increase in the vertical fin effectiveness
4. Significant increase in forward thrust of the rear engine by decreasing turbulence around the booms and tail fins
While the medium TBF’s show no significant performance improvement, they do enhance the appearance of the tail boom attachment to the vertical fin.
TBF’s can be used with and do not interfere with any other known mod, so can be paired with and complement our winglets and other STOL-enhancing mods for best performance.
